Taking time ....

At one time... I would have said, I'm not a great fan of poetry, but... it's more a case of, I never really think to read it...
Just recently on a work placement, the lady I was helping liked poetry, but has problems with her vision, and is unable to read, so, she listens to audio books..., and she has some poems on audio too..., so I have been listening with her, there were some I liked, and some I didn't.
The following poem is one I did like.... as it is something that is quite relevant and important to me..., taking time to enjoy my surroundings.
As most of you know I love to take photos... which means you need to see what is around you... taking time to stand and stare...
Leisure, What is life ... by William Henry Davies
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare...
I really like this... and I found myself remembering it, as I was walking through the woods looking around with my photography eye....

@sueznewz2 I guess I enjoy what I am not the greatest at.......poetry and putting together great photos. I'm going to work on that though.

@Juliaacv I like the photos you've posted on here...especially the one of the tree at the end of your garden in the various seasons.... as for poetry... I think I'll leave that to other people... lol's

@sueznewz2 I like poetry that rhymes and has rhythm. Some of it is too 'deep' and clever for me. Or too obscure. But some are very moving.

@sueznewz2 No - I didn't like poetry in school - I thought it was for wusses! I still recall ones we had to learn though, including this one.
