MEDITATION - A LOT MORE

Meditation as defined by the dictionary means – “The act or process of spending time in quiet thought.” Or “Concentration on spiritual things as a form of private devotion.” However, in practice, it means a lot more. According to me, sometimes it can relate to solace of soul and at other times to self-realization. It is a state of mystical awareness of God’s being. Meditation not just gives us time to relax our mind & body but it also gives us time to think. It gives us time to recalculate our deeds. It gives us time to ask ourselves the questions like – Are we doing the right thing? Are we doing the things right? Are we living right? What is the purpose and Goal of our Life? Whereas, the mere concept of right and wrong remains quite subjective as to each is their own, by asking ourselves these questions we can make our life quite simpler and more worthwhile. Meditation does lead to self-evaluation, self-discovery & self-realization. Have you ever tried it?

My technique is very simple, I just sit in a lotus posture with my back and neck straight and my fingers clasped and concentrate on my breathing. At first, the breath is very deep and long but slowly it starts to reduce and after sufficient practice you attain a breathless state and there is a lot more to it which is better experienced than said. I strongly recommend everyone to try it. It has innumerable benefits. Have you ever tried meditation?

@stapllotik I agree that in starting its difficult to sit idle without doing or thinking anything as it is against our old habits but with more and more practice, you will develop the patience to do it and slowly you will start enjoying it. :)

Haha.. That's the same case with everyone. But I assure you after some weeks of continuous practice, things would go better and eventually you'll master the art of controlling your thoughts and also, find great inner peace. :)

@sarik1 You are right. In the hasty world of today where everyone is just running behind one thing or the other, we all badly need some time to just sit back, relax and be in the present momemt. Meditation helps us with all of that. ! :)

Yes, we are each one of us our own universe. We can go anywhere in our mind and mend any path. If we go forward and make mistakes then we always have the chance to do them over and better.

Yes, to increase one's concentration power and memory retention, one should regularly meditate. It certainly helps and I can say this by my own experience.
