Do you use your cameraphone for taking photographs?

Though for a long time people seriously into photography have dismissed smartphones as a tool to take photos because of their small sensor size, I think in recent days smartphone camera technology has improved a lot. Many of today's camera phones take photos at par or better photos than the average point and shoot camera because of software optimisations. We also have flagship phones from various companies which come with great camera modules. Traditionally iPhones are renowned for their good cameras too! I had been using a Canon Powershot point and shoot camera for quite some time before buying a Xiaomi MI4. It has a great camera which takes good photographs even in sub-ideal conditions. Further taking into account the ability to sort, edit and share the photos through the same device itself makes it a win-win situation. What do you say? Please specify the device you use to shoot photos!

I have always wanted to buy a DSLR but even the basic models are quite expensive. After buying MI4 I realised that it is more than enough for my needs. Its not like I'll be taking photos for a company or something. Btw which phone and DSLR would be that?

@gameshire Yes, any source of a camera can take beautiful photos! Now a days with technology and even editing programs all looks nice and even professional. iPhone - I use an iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 Plus DSLR - I have a Nikon D40 and Canon T3i.

@infatuatedbby That's cool! Hope I get to buy a good DSLR some day! PS: Do you have manual shutter, manual focus controls in your iPhone?

I take a lot of photos with my Android phone (it is a Huawei) because I have always my phone with me. I have installed Open Camera, which is the best Android app I have tested for photos, however the pictures are usually less good than the ones I can get with my old Nikon D3000 : software optimization does not do miracles if the sensor is too small. They are good enough to post online at reduced size, but when I want really good photos, I take the camera with me.
