School vacation is about to get over... now my son started completing his HW... but it is difficult for him to focus as he is still in his playful mode and while doing homework he takes so many breaks... that prolongs hw time... i tell him to sit atleast for 30 mins at a stretch but... How can i help him to concentrate...?

First of all, how old is your child? If they're in pre-k, kindnergarden, or first or second, asking them to sit still for a half an hour can be a bit of a strech for them. Try make the homework fun, offer a reward system if he sits down and say completes one assignment. Also, if concentrations an issue, look into Add or ADHD as causes for the hyper activity. Children often develop it at a young age, and it goes undiagnosed for years, because many parents think their kids are misbehaving. Talk to his teacher (s) and see if he's having concentration issues in school. Talk to his school's guidence counsoulors as well to see about looking for learning or behavioral disorders. Not saying anything's wrong with your child, but it could be a number of things.

He is 8 years old... he simply is less interested in studies... if i sit beside him and conatantly tell him to do, then he is fine and doing his work... as soon as i leave him, he stops writing...

@Pankhini well like I said, talk to the school. Most kids that age are active and it's g hard to get them to sit still. Break up his assignments and let him take breaks. Just make sure he isn't having trouble in school.

Why dont you try a target schedule for him. Plan a schedule in which you give him equal intervals and target price too. Tell him that if he finish so and so worj tgen the target would be a toy or new pencil or new eraser or new storybook.....but not chocolates or biscuits...encourage him by his schools needs thats better for his ability.
