Mommy! I don't want to go to school today!

June 1, 2016 11:49pm CST
Did you have experience with child doesn't want to go to school or KG without any clear reason? For the past two days my son David, almost 5, does not want to go to his KG. In my experience and studies I learned that School or KG / Preschool are not punishment. You can not force your child to go to KG. So I said "O.K." but I won't reward you for that. No T.V or IPod.. You will keep your self busy, I will not entertained you... I spoke to his teacher already... she also can't spot on specific event happened that can cause it... I don't know what happened would love to hear from your ideas and advices.

I had an issue similar to this with my middle child (daughter) it was a random occurance that happened over several grades. She had to go, it was higher grades and it wasn't an issue. She is now in her 30's and says she remembers but really has no idea why she didn't want to go, she just didn't. Let me add, she does/did have a pretty wide stubborn streak.

My children are Home Schooled so I have never had to deal with them not wanting to go because I am their teacher. If he has always loved to go before I would be concerned. I hope no one is bullying him or hurting him there.

I want to give the compliment to my self... but yesterday I left home to checked it and left him with a babysitter...nothing happened. He preferred to stay with her instead to go to the school. and its the same school for the past 3 years - always was happy to go . something happened for sure. I don't know what.

@veredra He could be burned out. When my kids get new school books (we home school) they're all gung-ho about their lessons. Then the newness fades and they don't want to do it anymore.

I don't have children so I don't have experiences like that. But I think that you should talk to your son and see why he really does not want to go, does he have any problems with other kids or something like that. Be persuasive to find out what is his reason for not going.

i guess you need to talk more to your child, why he doesn't like to go to school. maybe you can find the answer with him.and solve that problem.

I also do that in my childhood days. Fear of teachers is the basic elementary factor.

@veredra may be someone else in school. Teachers are very intelligent they misbehave with students but in front of parents they become so sweet. Here parents get confused.

There might be some fellowship problem, may not be teachers all the time. Do check with his friends who may be the actual cause

when my son was 2 years old he went to a preschool and i couldn't stop him from going. Not even rain or fever could stop him from going to school. He loves school too much so I don't have any idea about your kid and why he doesn't like to go to school at all. Maybe he has separate anxiety?

Try asking everyone of his friends. When I was small, I was scared of the guy who used to sell icecreams at my school and would miss my school, then my mom slowly asked me what was the matter? and I told her, but only after she asked me repeatedly.I think I sensed that man's intentions were not good towards me.I don't know how but after some time that man left.Later on got to know, he was not a good man and he went to jail for some offence.Don't take the matter lightly kids can sense things but can't express them properly.

When I was like the age of your son, I somtimes acted like that. But what my mom did was, she sent me to KG and waited at the playground. She tried her best to give me a straight view of her. If not see her, then I gonna sulked all the night. Maybe you can do like what my mom did.
