Parent to Adolescents

Most of the parents today have a complaint against their adolescent child. They are hyperactive, talk back, don't respect elders and like. I too have 2 adolescents, who have their own choices but not all are good ones. They don't listen to every word you utter. Of course this was the case when I was an adolescent but today's kids are very blunt. What do you think are the reasons? Is it due to too much of media exposure or general social environment?

I really don't know what it is. I know I was the same way when I was young and I am 32 now. I raise my children very different from how I was raised but my daughter still has an awful attitude and is disrespectful and rude. I think some things are just genetic. I am trying to teach her not act the way she does in hopes that she will remember as she gets older the right way to act.

Yes. I agree. Then it is our responsibility to teach them, but then we ourselves need some counseling and talking. We are running after so many things for survival....the world has become very competitive.

Yes, That's one of the reason. Moreover they have their own logic which changes as they grow up.

Yes, they are more intelligent than us. We should very carefully and properly utilize their observance skills.

Maybe is that media exposure is one of the reasons of that behavior.. I think that new generations are very non-respectful to elders and that before 21 century it had more respect and listening of older ones.

I try to reduce their TV watching at home, but the discussions outside is beyond our control. We need to bend to their ways and mend them.
