End of Life Option Act

California has become the 5th state to allow people to choose the right to die when someone is terminally ill. I realize that the Bible states, "God giveth and God taketh away", however, for someone who is suffering and know they will never be whole again, they should have the right to choose when the 'time' is right. There are 7 mandatory requirements that the patient must follow in order to qualify for the new law (listed in the link below), which I find quite acceptable. I know if it was me and I knew I had less than 6 months to live, I would want this option. I can see no dignity in lying in a bed hooked up to machines waiting for my body to finally give in or to my family who would suffer more than I would watching my body waste away. All states should have this law.

I think that this is a good things as so many people who have serious medical problems are in so much pain they have to be sedated every couple of hours and that is absolutely no quality of life.

When my mother underwent radiation for massive cancer, it didn't take but 2 weeks for her to wind up in the hospital dying. It took her 3 days to die while in horrible pain @Marcyaz . I don't want that for anybody.

@nanette64 No one wants to go through that at the end of their days. I would not want that either.

Having a living will is a must. When you are in charge of a loved one's life, it is the hardest decision to put their wishes before your heart. I just wanted to put my Dave in my pocket and take him home and continue to love him.

It's hard to not be on the selfish end of things when it's someone you love @irenen1 .

I agree - what's the point in prolonging suffering where there is no hope?

Except for the fact that it makes a lot of money for the hospital or hospice as they file for insurance money @jaboUK .

I agree with you. I have told my family, do not put me on any life machine. I don't want to just lay in bed forever..I would rather go talk to GOD instead
