$100 an hour at the beach today

Today's trip to the beach was awfully expensive! Being that it was our first of the season, we had to buy our yearly sportfishing pass which allows us to drive onto the beach. That was $195. Then we also filled the SUV with gas, bought ice and bait, and bought sub sandwiches for lunch. We wound up staying only about 3 hours because there were biting black flies and the wind got really strong to the point where we were eventually being sandblasted. $300 for a 3 hour beach stay is 100 bucks an hour! I'm just joking. We will be at the beach many times so we will get our money's worth out of the season pass.

We always figure our hourly cost for activities too.

I once went snowboarding at Vail, and the snow was so bad, I spent the day in the bar. Between a sizable bar tab and a very expensive lift ticket, I spent an inordinate amount of money for one run.

I can't wait until I move to Florida and will be within driving distance of the beach all the time!

At least you are set up now with a season's pass. It's a shame the wind and flies drove you away.
