Not My Best Day :(

When I try to take my mind off of the pending move, I turn to genealogy. That pretty much takes my mind off the coming months and lets me sink into another time and place. Well, today, it's not working so well. I have packed up all of my books... all 5 bookshelves worth and they are all destined to go to a better place... like the nearest charity shop. I know that sharing them will be the best way to proceed. The moving lady said that each pound of "books" will cost a dollar to ship. I weighted a hard cover and it weighed a pound. :( Generally, if we are transferred, the company pays for the move, but this time (because they just shipped us here less than a year ago, they are only going to pay for a portion of the move. So, to keep the price down, my books have to go. I'm hoping that putting it all into perspective, will make me feel better. They are just books and I'm just whining... I realize. So, that's it. I do feel better. A lot of people have a lot more to complain about. It's time to just let it go and put a smile on my face!!

I always find it really hard to part with books. Hopefully you will be able to find more when you move - and you'll have a lot of room for them now you've given some away.

I know that my husband would be devastated if he was obliged to sell, or donate, his books. You have all the reasons to complain.

Have you considered shipping your absolute favorites to your new address yourself? Postage for books, media postage is relatively cheap. UPS might even be more reasonable. Certainly much less than a $1. a pound.
