Today's Into the Groovy (#73) finds us in New Orleans, the original home of Zebra. Led by vocalist/guitarist Randy Jackson (no, not THAT Randy Jackson,) Zebra formed in the mid-1970's, and found success with their eponymous 1983 debut. The band is in both the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (thank you Wikipedia!) "Tell Me what You Want" was a single from that album, a hard rocker that was a minor hit for the band, reaching #29 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. The song was, however, also a radio hit, helping to propel the album to Certified Gold Record status. While Zebra never again attained the heights achieved by that first album, the band is still at it. Be sure to check them out if they show up in your neck of the woods. I guarantee they'll play "Tell Me what You Want."

That video was so 80s! Look at that hair! I have never heard of Zebra despite having been to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame which is in the state museum at Baton Rouge. There were so many performers in it from all music genres.

When did you go? I think they only got in within the last few years.

@teamfreak16 I have to stand corrected. I looked up the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and it is a virtual museum so it was not what I actually saw. In the state museum which is a huge new building across the street from the state capitol, there is a big music section with plaques and displays which I assumed was the HOF. I am sure Zebra was there because there were tons of displays and big gallery of prominent Louisiana musicians. Needless to say Louis Armstrong and Fats were the headliners. I was there last year and admission was free. Well worth the visit.
