Favorite 80's One-Hit Wonders #9 - "Love Plus One"

For #9 in my Favorite 80's One-Hit Wonders series, we stay in England, home of Haircut One Hundred. Fronted by vocalist Nick Heyward, Haircut One Hundred formed in 1980. And while they achieved success in their native country, they were simply a one-hit wonder here in the States. The energetic, Caribbean-infused "Love Plus One" is a fun, radio-friendly ditty that, with a bit of tweaking here and there, could very easily been a hit for The Beat (English Beat to we Yanks.) "Love Plus One" reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100. While the band had other songs hit different charts, this was their only American Top 40 hit. I'm using the rules from Wayne Jancik's book The Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders: An act can only have appeared in the Top 40 on the Hot 100 once. Any other charts don't count, and neither do countries other than the States.

I hate these rules. The first song I wrote down on my list was "Walkin' on Sunshine," but danged if Katrina & the Waves didn't have a second top 20 song ("That's the Way" in 1989). I like this song but never considered it for the list, meaning there's a maximum of eight songs to match on now.

@teamfreak16 -- I had no idea, either, until I was looking through my Whitburn and saw it. I said pretty much what you said.

One of my all time favorites! However, I prefer Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl) extended mix.

"Favourite Shirts" is the better song. It just wasn't a Top 40 over here.
