Blessings come when you least expect it

As I said more than a week ago, my CPU finally gave up and I was resigned to having my MacAir do all the work from 8AM to as late as 10 or 11PM. God, however, sends His blessings when we least expect it at times. When I viewed my ATM account online 4 days ago, I found out that I was credited with a lump sum adjustment for my social security pension which would be enough to buy me another MacAir. Added to this, my two thoughtful daughters credited my account with a generous amount as birthday gift. My wife even received one and a half times what I received as her lump sum adjustment and she said she's setting it aside for our daughter's wedding late this year. So, with what my daughters gave, I just matched it with some amount from my lump sum adjustment to have a new CPU with a much faster 8GB RAM from my previous 4. I also opted to pay for a licensed Windows 10 OS which was quite expensive but which should give me peace of mind than having a pirated one which the techinician said usually has the problems encountered by many. My previous Windows XP was also a licensed one which I paid for. Another blessing was the coming of my friend's worker to finally fix our leaking gutter. I went with him up the roof to help out despite the biting heat from the sun. Since we finished the job at lunch time, we asked the worker to have lunch with us before sending him back to my friend's shop. God is really good all the time!

Wow blessings indeed! I am just curious, did you apply for your lump sum adjustment or it came to you automatically?

@sunrisefan There was a time when one had to go to SSS to fill out a Form for Adjustment Request. Two of my neighbors got 50K each for their adjustments a month after they requested it. But my Brother In Law went the other day to SSS to fill out that Form but he was told no need as it will be automatically sent to him, he just have to wait. Is this the same case with you? You did not fill out any request form for it?

@salonga No, we did not fill out any form. They just credited the adjustment automatically. I guess the adjustment was for the contributions during the time that they were not yet computerized which were not included in the monthly pension computation. Am glad they did it on their own and gave us what is due us. I'm sure your brother-in-law will be receiving his adjustment anytime soon.

It just came automatically and so with some friends. Others, though, have not received their adjustment yet. I guess SSS is doing it in batches. Those among my officemates who had smaller monthly pension got the bigger adjustment.

My Windows 7 has yet to automatically upgrade. We have not seen the notification. Hoping in next few months if my connections stays strong it will be shown.

Is your Windows 7 a licensed one?

Ah. So that was what happened. I also noticed that I haven't seen much of you in Mylot or maybe I am just busy. Your daughters loved you very much so I am sure they will not neglect when you need something. By the way, I wonder how much is a licensed Windows 10 OS. I requested my boyfriend to buy me a laptop in their country since he is better in computers than me. He bought me one and installed Windows 10 on it. But when he visited me here, he does not want me to pay for it. He said it will be his birthday gift for me. I still insisted on giving him some money because I know laptop is too expensive. But he is very stubborn. He still returned back what I gave to him by buying me new glasses. You are very lucky with your friends too. They must be some of the treasured friends of yours. Finally, I agree with you that God is good all the time. He knows I need more money to support my older sister. I am still able to get a part time job for this semester.

@sunrisefan I see. Yes, I think it cost thousands and I know what I gave to my boyfriend was very little compared to what he spent on my laptop. So far, I see that Windows 10 is good. I was reluctant on it before but after asking others, I decided to have Windows 10.

A licensed Windows 10 costs over 5K. Yes, as you and I say. God is good all the time, Ms. Annie.

@annierose I heard some complaints about Windows 10 but my friend said the licensed Windows does not have any problem. In fact, I'm now enjoying the speedier response of my new CPU probably also because of the 8GB RAM that I requested to be installed. My previous Windows XP was also a licensed one. Sadly though, I think my UPS also wants to be replaced because it did not light up this morning. I brought it to the shop. If it does not get fixed, then I'll have to shell out about 2K to buy a new one.

Sometimes God likes to let us know that He is the strongest when we are at the weakest . Lump sum adjustment for your SSS Pension ? Does it mean increase in the monthly pension and was done retroactively ?

I think it's for the contributions at the time they were not computerized yet which were not included in the computation for our monthly pension.

@SIMPLYD I think, with the lump sum adjustment, I'll also be receiving a higher pension starting July as a result of the short computation before. I think I'll be getting an increase of about 1.5K and so does my wife who received a bigger lump sum adjustment because she had many years of contribution which were not included.

@Lucky15 Ah okay. I am reserving what's left. We're going to Cebu to sponsor a wedding in August and my daughter is getting married late this year so, hopefully, we can help her out though she and her boyfriend had already planned everything a year ahead and even had their prenup in NZ last year and paid most of the expenses from the gowns, the wedding planner, the venue, the flowers, the make-up artist, photographers, videographers and caterer and many others.

Yes, I'm spending it wisely and prioritize things. I've spent wisely otherwise I would not have built my own home long before I got married.
