I do apologize... I'm about to share a religious fueled opinion.

So in seeing the reaction to The U.K.'s split from the EU, the plummeting of the stock market, and the diminishing of the pound's value, this feels like Armageddon's right around the corner.
As the title implies, I do apologize, and ask that you'll indulge my opinion for a moment. See I'm a Christian, or rather merely a theist who believes in God. As a teenager, I found myself reading the Book Of Revelation from the Bible, though not entirely. And as it came to inspire a novel I started eleven years ago, prior to that, I questioned how any of what I read and later did further research for my book series, would play out.
How would the Anti-Christ have any sway over humanity? How would the one-world system come to pass? How would our currency devolve into a mark that would guarantee humans to be food for some giant whale/serpant like beast? And who would be dumb enough to sign up for that?
And whelp, as I got older and continued to write that book of mine, I began to get answers to those questions. And the answers I got have left me severly disappointed... How? Well, let's just say that fiction's various depictions of how the Apocalypse occurs is a lot more exciting them what I've seen in the last eight years.
For starters, people have been getting dumber... Sticking to the recent situation, I heard on the news that people were looking up what the EU was AFTER the votes were cast and the damage was done. It's too late now ya morons! You shoulda looked it up before you cast the vote! These people seem to be acceptible of a lot of dumb crap, and I've seen that with that Faux-Feminism crap, as they have this cult-like mentality of "listen and believe."
And then you've got this hypocritical bull crap of hating Christians, or any religious practice that denounces LGBT... And I'm a cynical person, so I get the cynicism. But this type of idiocy is Why I'm cynical, as they're being no better than their persecutors. But from what I understand anyone who serves God will be hunted and killed for their believes, and seeing that the foundation for that is pure idiocy, I was expecting something a tad more diabolical.
But how all of this even being done? Easy, you keep people blissfully ignorant, that's how. This will make them believe that getting a funky tattoo they can buy stuff with, and walking into the mouth and being eaten by a giant Hell beast will be fun. Oh, and then you've got the occassional eyeing of North Korea and their missle tests... Gee, I wonder how long it'll be before they try to nuke everybody...? And then you've got the trouble in the middle east, famine, disease, various natural disasters, oh yeah and those four blood moons...
So yeah, if this is the prelude to the Apocalypse, I was expecting something a lot more exciting than this.

Had to laugh for this is cynicism at its best. I agree though, it seems if we are going to have a major apocalypse it should be much more exciting. Kind of like a "who's up for a round of 'Independence Day' live version!
I have a cool solution for avoiding the coming end times. I pick up the remote and hit the power button and shut down my comp for a while and it all just goes away.
Of course I said that tongue in cheek. But honestly I am in no position to change the politics of our world so I only concentrate on my little piece of it while I'm here.

@Namelesss "Had to laugh for this is cynicism at its best." Thanks, I aim to please. And yeah I always imagined the prelude to the apocalypse being more exciting or diabolical than this. I blame my geeky expectations, as playing videogames like Darksiders and God Of War 3, Devil May Cry 3 and 4, being a casual Hellboy fan, a fan of the Terminator series, Independence Day, and writing my own three book series on the subject on this. Because dagnabbit learning the truth of what will cause Armageddon is a big let down.Hell, I'll even take a zombie virus causing apocalypse over "Keep people uneducated and stupid, so as to make them easy to manipulate." Like what The Hell? And the kicker is either I'm more observant, or they're not being subtle about it. Which I also expected more subtly to the manipulation of the masses than this.
I'm not asking for a change in politics, I'm a firm believer in fate, it's just if they're gonna really do this, it shouldn't be so obvious.
Oh well, maybe when all's said and done maybe the actual fallout from this build up will be more exciting. But at this rate, I might follow your lead, or picking up the remote and shutting down my computer. Or I could binge through my collection of videogames, while sobbing over what could have been.
