Which is your favorite Grimm Brother fairy tale?

June 27, 2016 11:41am CST
I have read all Grimm fairy tales, and I liked the story of the faithful servant John the most. It is about a faithful servant named John who gave a word to his master, the King that he will take care of the prince. He remains loyal and supports the prince all his life. Which is your favorite Grimm Brother fairy tale?

As a German I should recognise the fairy tale. But I don't. What's the title of this one? It must be one of the lesser known ones. I have no favourite fairy tale. I may have had one as a child but that was so long ago. I don't remember one.

@MALUSE That is because the Grimm brothers wrote more than 200 fairy tales. The ones those are very popular, are only because Disney adapted them into movies. Interesting thing is that Here is a list of fairy tales that parents no more read to modern children: 1. Hansel and Gretel - Details two kids abandoned in the forest and likely to scare young children 2. Jack and the Beanstalk - Deemed too 'unrealistic'. 3. Gingerbread Man - Would be uncomfortable explaining gingerbread man gets eaten by a fox 4. Little Red Riding Hood - Deemed unsuitable by parents who have to explain a young girl's grandmother has been eaten by a wolf. 5. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves - the term dwarves was found to be inappropriate 6. Cinderella - Story about a young girl doing all the housework was outdated. 7.Rapunzel - Parents were worried about the focus on a young girl being kidnapped. 8.Rumplestiltskin - Wouldn't be happy reading about executions and kidnapping 9.Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Sends the wrong messages about stealing 10.Queen Bee - Inappropriate as the story has a character called Simpleton

The English translation is Faithful Servant John.. I looked up for its German title. Its Der treue Johannes.

I don't have a favorite. The tales are all very good with clear themes and lessons easily learned. What I did like were the animated versions of Grimm's Fairy Tales. They used to be presented with the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.
