I need shoes that don't wear out on the inside so fast

I have been getting my exercise by walking in the house for a couple of years. The weather here has not been good for me to do it outside since I can only spare the time in the afternoon and it is usually too windy or too smoky or both then. My problem is that the inside of sole of my shoes wears out, begins to hurt my feet, very quickly. I have had to buy a lot of new shoes but the more recent models start out having a problem. It just fits into what I have observed for many things which is they just don't make them like they used. I have tried inserts, etc. but they don't help much if at all.
