Do any of you get migraine headaches? What do you take for them? Do you have any tips or ideas what to do about them? I am feeling very sick from pain in the eyes and behind the eyes. It starts with everything looking wavy and then nausea and dizziness. My doctor says to take Tylenol. Do you take Tylenol for such a headache and does it work for you? It does not help me.

I'm not sure what that is, probably something similar to what we have here.

I dan't have them any more, but when I did, Tylenol, aspirin, and chocolate (caffeine) did the trick. Taken together.

Chocolate is good. I may try that for the worst ones. I can't take aspirin but maybe once in a while would not hurt. Thanks, I hope it works for me.

I have awful ones. I am on Topamax everyday to prevent them and then Imitrex to stop them once they start. For ones the Imitrex won't stop, I have to go to the emergency room - they give me a mix of medications through an IV to stop them. If you are having them often (more than once or twice a month) your doctor should be providing medication instead of saying just take Tylenol.

@akalinus If you have insurance - get someone to drive you to the local ER. They should run some tests on you and give you some medicines to stop the pain. Have someone take you as the medicine can make you sleepy and/or a bit sick.

@Lolaze I only have my son and he is at his girlfriend's two hours away. I will take some Tylenol PM when I go to bed, that helps me sleep anyway. I think I have an appointment coming up next month, I will insist that Tylenol is not the solution and I need something different.

Baby aspirin? Really? I could have got some at Walmart yesterday. How many do you take at a time?

@akalinus Baby aspirin never helped me for the migraine, not even the normal aspirin, but they make me sick, my stomach cannot stand aspirin. Be careful.

I am going to try @Lolaze's suggestion to try magnesium. That sounds like something that won't break the bank and maybe it would work or at least help.

@JudyEv I am definitely getting it. I have periods of severe leg and other muscle cramps. I wonder if it is all related. Are you a genius, by any chance?

@akalinus Lack of magnesium affects us in quite a few ways. I know they recommend it for leg cramps.

I have been lucky not to suffer migraines. My mother had migraines. My son and grandson have them, so do two of my sisters and two daughters in law. i know how horrible headaches are. I do have the aura but I can lie down awhile and it stops,. I have never experienced the pain.

You are lucky that you don't get the pain. I hope it stays that way for you. These headaches seem to run in families. My oldest son used to get them.

I have suffered of migraine for years, your same symptoms, pain in the eyes, nausea and dizziness. I took the same as @Lucky15, pills containing paracetamol. I think you have several brands in the United States, Sumatripan, Zomig, Excedrin Migraine are the most effective.

I can't take Ibuprofen. My life got a lot worse a few years ago when we got rear ended. That made things hurt that never did before.

@akalinus Oh no. I'm sorry to hear that. I frankly worry about me taking ibuprofen. Even over the counter meds like that can make me sleepy.

Tylenol is a cop out answer to me. My headaches are sinus headaches, and I'm helpless against them.

I have had those, too. They are tough. Antihistamine seems to help when I get a sinus infection headache. They do make me sleepy and dopey so can't run any dangerous machinery.

I do have severe headaches but I do take aspirin. My symptoms are the same like yours pain in the eyes. Sometimes I ask myself why am I having a headache or is it because I'm tired or it is something else. I believe it was about a week ago I had major headache the whole evening. I knew I was fine during daytime and I wasn't tired. I figured could be the hair serum I put on my hair it was too much. I did rinse my hair with water then the headache went away.

Maybe you are allergic to the stuff you use on your hair. That would be simple, just use something different. Hope your headache is gone for good.

When I was in high school, I used to have those migraine headaches. It makes me vomit a lot. I used to take meds but I can't recall anymore the name of the medicine I used to take.

So, they must have gone away when you left high school. That is interesting.
