Worried Today.

We went to visit my middle son today and he was not at all well. He was dizzy and weak. We wanted to take him to the emergency room but he refused to go. He has diabetes but his sugar was neither too high or too low. I tried to get him to come home with us until he was feeling better, but he would not. He wanted to be left alone to rest, so we came on home and he said he would let us know if he didn't feel better after a nap. I called his brother and had him check on the sick son as he came home from work. I hope all is well, we had messages from both saying so. I'm still on pins and needles and will check on my son in the morning. I don't know what we will do if he is still sick and refuses to go to the hospital.

Hope he gets well soon. Its very worrying for a mother , I know. They listen to their siblings though , so if necessary they must get him to a doc.

Maybe he thinks he can manage himself despite his illness. I have diabetes too

@RubyHawk If he cannot walk, then maybe his nerves have the problem now. He has diabetic neuropathy. I hope he has no bleeding wounds in his feet, because it can cause decreased oxygenation and she might develop diabetic foot.

@Yar_Joey He doesn't have any wounds. He has trouble walking because the nerves in his feet and legs are destroyed, but he has no sores, thank goodness for that. He takes good care of his feet.

that's exactly what he thinks. I hope it's true. Do you have many problems with your diabetes. The nerves are gone in my sons feet and legs. He cannot drive and has a hard time walking.

Males are so staunch about these things. My dad just ended up in hospital this week with chest pains. At 84 these things are to be expected, but he kept expecting to get up and go home straight away.

I think all males are like that at every age. I hope your dad will be okay.

He may not want to go right now but if he becomes any weaker then he may give in. Perhaps rest is needed.

hoping the hospital not needed, the sugar was neither too high or low, hoping the nap then is enough

It seemed to be, a meal and a nap can sometimes work wonders.

I hope he is better now. As mothers we do worry a lot more than we should.. don't we?

No matter what age they are, we still worry about our children, don't we? I hope he's ok.

I don't believe they get too old for a mother not to worry.

This is a difficult one. Would he go to a doctor just to put your mind at rest even if he doesn't see the need? I do hope he will be okay.

That is a worry. Sometimes people don't realize when they need medical attention. Hopefully, he was just not feeling well.

Being he is an adult I don't know what you can do except to be with him and make sure he doesn't have a problem with his diabetis.

@RubyHawk I can understand as our kids are like that in not wanting us to worry about them.

I can't actually be with him, we don't live close and he doesn't want me to stay with him. He doesn't like to see me worry and annoy him. I'm sure I would feel the same way.

I had a message from him today, saying he's feeling fine. He might have been dehydrated.

Well, I don't think you can force him to go, maybe he only has a slight flu bug or something like that if his sugar numbers are normal. Worrying won't do either of you any good, as it can make you sick as well and you don't want or need that. The best thing to do is visualize him doing the things he most enjoys and see him in good health. If checking on him will make you feel worse, it may not be the best idea right now. Maybe give it a few days and then go again. By then he may be his normal self again.
