Weekend Update

I wasn't here yesterday and missed chatting with everyone.
I spent a good portion of the day at the rehab facility visiting with my mom and when I got home it was time for dinner. The rest of the night was fun because the grandchildren came over (along with my daughters) and we had game night. The kids brought some fun games that were similar to charades and we had lots of laughs. It certainly was a good stress reliever for me.
Today will be another visiting day with my mom but not as long as yesterday. I'm just going for a short visit and to drop off some clean clothes and pick up the dirty ones.
The sun is shining and it's a nice summer day. I'm hoping to bbq something this evening as I feel as if we're falling short of this holiday weekend (4th of July) without embracing the traditional barbecue.
Just wanted to check in and say hi and hope everyone is enjoy their weekend.

MY grandchildren bring so much joy to my life and are the balance between the stress of having mom in the rehab

Doesn't look like mom will be coming home any time soon as she's still having major trouble with her standing and walking and balance. I'm at the point where a nursing home might be the end result but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll be able to come home

@Marilynda1225 Once my Mum had her hip replacement at 99, her balance was not as good any more and she had to go into a nursing home. She just seemed to know that that was what had to happen. Although she'd always dreaded it she didn't make it hard for us and was reasonably happy there which was a great blessing. I wish you the best with your situation.

I am sure that you'll enjoy your supper if its grilled, it always tastes better doesn't it? We're having chicken and ribs and corn on the cob and baked potatoes. We stopped at a roadside stand and picked up half a dozen ears of sweet corn earlier this afternoon.

@Marilynda1225 We stopped at a roadside stand on our way home from our son's place yesterday, and we've never had corn from there before, but it was delicious. It was the bi-colour peaches and cream corn, just ripe enough and so very sweet.
We grill just as often as not for 6 months of the year. Its a welcome change.

What's a holiday weekend without a bbq!! hope you enjoyed your corn...I love corn on the cob and I'm hoping to get to a nearby farm to get some before the weekend is over

So far I've had to buy numerous new clothes to replace not only what was lost but what was soiled beyond washing. Now I have name tags in everything and am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else gets lost. Hope you enjoy your 4th too

I've been trying to get some sort of life back for myself as I've been taking care of my mom for years. Having a little freedom now is wonderful and I know my mom is being well taken care of. My grandchildren bring me lots of joy and the ones that live close by are old enough now to play games and have fun with.

My grandchildren that live close by are old enough now to play games and we had so much fun and many laughs. Kids do get silly when it's past their bedtime

Mom is progressing slowly but at 94 I don't expect her to be able to come home soon
