X-Men movies: Why is storm weak in X-men movies?

If you read the comicbooks, At certain point Storm is the leader of the X-men. The fact that her power is to control weather makes her one of the most powerful superheroes out there. She can destroy the world and kill millions of people if she wanted too. That is how powerful she was in the comicbooks. Though she lost against Thor (He is a god) in the comics she is actually able to keep up with him and gave him a challenge. On the Movies, They make her a weak link. They Make Wolverine who's only power is healing factor and claws, the most powerful character in the movies. Wolverine had been defeated by humans many times. Elektra who is Daredevil's ninja girlfriend defeated him in a fight. Elektra is a human with no powers. In the comics and even the Cartoons, Storm is actually more powerful. She can also do martial arts but in the movies she is basically a jobber and a damsel who needs some rescuing. I find it sad that one of the most powerful Black superheroes have garbage treatment in movies. One more thing, Storm is a dark skinned African woman but in the movies, Biracials with light skin always play her.

You can never expect the movies to make similar to the comics. it makes me wonder why wolverine was always the high light, was it because of hugh jackman? no wonder they call the last trilolgy a trash by comic fans because it really didn't work like they wanted to.

The producers of X-men movies are not even fans of the source material They just read basic information about characters and make movies. Deadpool is one of the better adopted comicbook movies out there because the producer is a fan of the source material and not a fan of money. The writers were also kinda sexist to female characters, they dont want them to outshine the guys.

This is sad to know about Storm , though i love her in X-Men movies . But the one i love most though is Wolverine . But then , maybe they like it to appear that a man should be the leader because man is considered the stronger gender

@CaptAlbertWhisker It's nice to see women also in X-Men movies . It makes a female proud of being a female too.

Wolverine is actually one of the weakest members of X-men though, The leader of X-men is actually Cyclops but I guess people find him boring compared to the bad boy looking Wolverine. Just like the Avengers, It has lots of female members yet you only see 2 on the movies. Based on powers alone, Storm is more powerful than lots of male X-men members.

@SIMPLYD They were weak on the movies though compared to comics and cartoons. Producers hates the female characters so much. Storm got it worst because she is black.

I think it is more because of what sells. In the very initial versions of the X-Movies there was no Storm (if I remember right) and they did well, in terms of business. So by the end of the first lot of the X-Men movies it was all evident that people loved to watch Wolvorine and him being the SuperHero. Eventually, they maintained the same status for him - recall there is one movie dedicated to Wolvorine only - you dont find any other superhero in X-Men being given that kind of importance... again, maybe it is still carrying forward to what the people loved in the initial releases.

@CaptAlbertWhisker If Angelina was still acting, I believe she would have been a very better choice. The Tomb Raider series still makes me fall in love with her flexibility and stunts

@thesids Harley is suppose to have a Brooklyn New York accent and they got an Australian actress faking a generic American accent instead.... She is also suppose to be charming. Harley is very child like thats why she got popular and the actress they got is far from child like. They should have tried to find an actress who can act innocent and evil at the same time.

@thesids Her voice is too deep to be Harley though. Harley have a girl like voice. I heard Angelina prefers award bait roles these days;

Storm being so under utilized, well I'mma sound a litle prejudice myself, so hgere it goes... Generally as far as many white folks are concerned black people are illiterate and not very bright, as they are rash, loud, and don't do a lot of thinking things through. And by extension not being ccapable of a lot of tasks like leadership on standing on equal footing with whites. Storm defies all of this. Not only is she powerful enough to tussle with Thor, but she's soft spoken, humble, and wise. and when she was married to Black Pather, she was a committed and supportive wife. Generally that's foreign to white folks, which means James Rhodes(War Machine), Sam Wilson(The Falcon) and Black Panther's capabilities, skills and characters in the Marvel Cinematic universe must be mind blowing to them. Because they're not used to seeing black folks do that kind of stuff, as they're used to the ghetto stereotype. As for why Storm is always played by a lighter skinned black woman or biracial? Well if you make a character too dark skin wise, they become unfamiliar to the whte masses.

Lupita Nyongo managed to win the title of the most beautiful woman of the year. But yeah ignorant Hollywood producers are not yet confident to dark skinned Black women, they either have to bleach or must be mixed race. I think it is the same reason why many Asian Male roles like Johnny Rico, Son Goku and Kyo Kusanagi were given by Hollywood to White guys. Hollywood's answer to diversity now it to turn white characters into black characters instead using established Black characters like Storm and utilize them well. Another character they ruined in the movies, Rogue, She is suppose to be this Sassy Southern Belle but they gave Jubillee's role to her instead. the one on the movies is nothing like the Rogue I know. She is suppose to start as a villain for the avengers who will redeem her self after she absorbs Miss Marvel's Powers. She is also too weak in the movies.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Exactly... They're not confident in it, because there's not a demand for it. And the sad thing is it seems only white folks or famous black folks can make that demand... Also "Turning white characters black" are you referring to that remake of Annie and the Human Torch? As for Rogue, in actually giving it some thought, I see your problem. The way it looks is she was supposed to that relatable surrogate for the teen audience I suppose. Much like Jubilee in the 90s cartoon... But her ability while dangerous to those around her, makes her own of the most powerful members of the team. Hell, how she was portrayed in X-men Evolution showcased that very well. But in the films, she an emotional insecure and uncertain teenager... Who had a purpose in the film film, and kinda under utilized in the second and third film too.

Yes I feel the same, the media/films portrays flawless white skins as must for superheros(female) and awesome body for males. The Villeins are dark colored. I also feel that storm should be the head of the pack and the story should not focus on wolverine that much as he has separate movies of himself and Marvels are going in bad direction on this

Yeah since Wolverine have his own movies, He should not be hogging all the spotlight in X-men movies. The other X-men members should shine 2. Storm is one of the first Black Superheroes and being ground breaking should have given her some respect.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Yes thats exactly what I want

I'm not a big fan of Marvel (my siblings and I are more DC people), but from what I've seen of the movies and of the comics, I agree she is weakened a lot. Hollywood politics plays a lot into it, of course. Wolverine fits the perfect description of the "straight white male" badass archetype. Because most of Hollywood, in terms of who is making movies, is dominate by these straight white male types, they ultimately have the final say on who is is and isn't represented. It's really annoying and it's really frustrating. It's the same tired formula that you see everywhere in media and entertainment. On the bright side, more black representation is coming to superheroes with Black Panther, Cyborg, the new Iron Man, etc.

Speaking of Wolverine being a "Straight White Male Archetype " His son Daken is a "Bisexual Japanese Male" I have a feeling he won't make it to the movies eventhough he is a good villain. Speaking of he New Ironman, I found it weird that she is a teenage girl but she didnt go for Ironwoman or Irongirl, She is still called Ironman. On Age of Apocalypse movie, Psylocke Barely got a screen time. She is there just to look sexy.

@essennyo A real fan of the source material should be doing the movie adaptations. Brian Singer is not really and X-men fan. He is a fan of money. Deadpool is one of the best adaptations ever because the people behind it are fans of the source material.

@CaptAlbertWhisker The source material has so many strong characters that Hollywood likes to glance over. It's so annoying. Daken is a fascinating character that a lot of people would probably love if he was given a chance. The characters that are there should be developed more! They're already there, why not make them appealing to the tons of people who could relate to them more easily than to the "standard white male". This is also a problem that not only plagues movies, but also video games. Like, we can do better

Storm is better than the others so she should have more power in the shows. She can control the weather and needs to use that.

She can also control Wind, Water and electricity via lightning but in the movie she is so weak. The movie wanted Wolverine to be the hero.

The producers wanks about Wolverine so much. The movies make him so powerful when he is one of the superheroes humans can defeat.

In the movies, it is all about Wolverine because Hollywood see him as the marketable badass. They were scared of making female characters shine.

observe that too but I think its not the color of her skin. maybe a right twist of the story will come on her way.

Nah Hollywood is just racist and sexist, she is a black character so the producers dont want her to be powerful in the movies. In Avengers, Scarlet Witch can depower everyone, that power of her is not featured in movies.
