Indie film is a clipped word from Independent film. This is a kind of movie which is produced by independent producers with its staff quite different from the commercial or regular films produced by biggest film makers in the movie industry. Most of these films are low budget but I can personally say that they are of good qualities and more realistic. Indie films are starred by "never-heard" or unpopular actors and directed by unpopular movie directors. Most of these films have been competing abroad and proud to say that most of them made there as well. New great actors, directors and other people behind its making become popular and in demand. Lately, there is now what they call Cinemalaya. This is an event which features different indie films. Lately, because of indie films popularity as they continue making waves abroad, famous actors and actresses in the country are dying to be starred in these. Some even ventured on this. This is how Indie films growing popularity becomes unstoppable and because of these, the film industry in the Philippines becomes alive again.
