Cat Whisker Wishes My cat wishes she was a snake Such slithering skill would make Catching the garden birds so easy While her bite would make mice queasy My cat wishes she was a dog – an Alsatian Able to chase off every smaller dog in the nation Revenge for their attacks on all cat-kind Hunting down every poodle she could find My cat wishes she was a turtle or a tortoise Maybe a dolphin, or possibly a porpoise But no, marine mammals are a bit like fish And my cat harbours absolutely no wish To go near water. She’s just caught her First rat So now she’ glad she’s a cat She wishes to remain just that A cat, a happy purring puddy cat Owned fed and stroked by me & you And happiest of endings her dearest wish comes true Arthur Chappell
