It happened yesterday during the exam day.Two students did not get the test questionnaires though their names were called based on their permit shown. They seemed deaf due to their happiness sitting elbow to elbow, and without their notice, I went nearer to them passing the opposite direction only to get shock of their action kissing lips to lips. All their classmates were too serious and in deep thinking how to solve the problems in test, only to have these two students doing public scandal. I instructed them to leave the room and got their school ID and wrote an incident report to dean of discipline.I went to dean of discipline's office this afternoon and was informed that these students were on 5 days suspension and have their parents to report to that office to know the cause of their suspension. I feel the agony of the parents this time. They have to know for they might wonder why their son or daughter does not go to school. What shall you do if they are your son or daughter? Are you going to punish them? Image credit by Pixabay

What an overreaction! Where's the scandal? Why couldn't you just tell them to sit apart? All would have been well then, And you want them to be punished by their parents as well? I find this incredible.

The scandal there is their classmates all eyes on them, and this is Philippines not a liberated country like America and your country. There is also a memo sent to their student council no PDA in the campus, how much more in class during the exam with 65 students?

@MALUSE .. In the Filipino culture, kissing or even just holding hands in public especially in the classrooms is considered a scandal ..

@cacay1 Yes. That is why I dont want my nieces and nephews focus on watching tv too much. I buy them cartoon dvds instead of watching tv show.

@cacay1 Teenagers do not always think first before acting, do they?

@Marcyaz, this time, many teenagers are making their own decision without thinking they might regret someday. That is a nice idea friend.

You remind me when the headmistress asked me to remove a sticker on my schoolbag saying "make love not war". I was about 10 years old ; it bugged me and I complained to my parents. There was not any rule in my high school against kissing, at least outside the classrooms. I suppose that during an exam it would perhaps have been worth 2 detention hours, but certainly not a 5 days suspension. Seriously, why have you not just separated them ?

@topffer, That was my intention in going nearer them to instruct them to stay far from each other. I do not like to shout for it may destruct the students, plus I do not know that they are lovers.

@cacay1 It's not necessary to shout when you tell someone to sit somewhere else.

@MALUSE You are not there to see the situation about the space of the room 2 sections merging. You won't be heard if you will whisper or demonstrate for there eyes are on them, not to me. I already told the students to transfer to other Math teacher.

It is really inappropriate to do such actions because a school is a place for studying and not for doing something intimate with bf/gf. I hope their parents will be able to discipline them in a way that they will not do it again especially in a place like a school. They are still in the Philippines and not in other countries.

That is true friend, it is not a culture in Philippines do kissing inside the classroom. I hope they learned a lesson out of their action.

I lost my virginity at school. I was thankful me and my exgirlfriend were not caught because our lives might have been ruined or worst we might have been forced to get married.

I felt sad for them. I wish they see each other as an inspiration to pursue their studies not as doing public display of affection. I don't know how to react on that issue if I were the parent. Maybe request the school to send them separately.

It will be better for the parents to transfer one of them to other school next semester avoid temptations, but I surely believe that these two already made an act done only by married couple.

I would be very disappointed if my child is doing something else in the classroom disrupting his exams.. Were these two young lovers told the rules before they sat down for the exams?.. Here in Australia, things like that wouldn't be dealt that way.. It would be discreetly discussed between the students to avoid further embarrassment.. But it's different over there of course .. .

OMG, I can't answer you on how to do it if I'm one of the parents of those suspended student. I haven't experience such situation to my sons but in case they are one of them, I still advise and help him/her what to do or I might reprimand him or he might be grounded

@ida123, I hope their parents are not having hyper,or else, something bad happens. That was really a bad scene. The students laughed in mockery. They said that they are living together without parents knowledge. They will surely egret when they will have a baby and no money to support.

Kissing is illegal? I think it is an overreaction. I think it is wrong to deny them taking the test for any reason except cheating or whatever. But that is just me. Maybe I am too lenient with people.

This is Philippines and it's not part of the school curriculum too much freedom granted for the students like kissing inside the classroom. They already know the policies of the school and posted outside the guard's gate NO PDA inside the campus, how much more to kissing lips to lips? They are shameless beings.

Those students deserve a 5-day suspension. If those or any one of them is my child, I'll make sure they will be punished physically. I won't give them money and let them clean the house, do the laundry, iron clothes, and do all chores during their 5-day suspension. I won't give them allowance until I see that they have reformed. I'll throw their books on their faces. It would be a disrespect for me since I work hard just to send him/her to school. They deserve ti be spanked. I hate lazy students who don't prioritize their studies and put to waste their parents' efforts in sending them to school.

That must be so they will not anymore do foolishness. It is also too young for them to enter into a relationship.I so have many students showing Public Display of Affection in campus despite the policy of the school.

That does seem a very tough punishment but I guess they know the rules.
