Day 117 Psalm 117 Psalm 117:1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise ye the LORD. We don’t need to wax eloquent with our prayers and praises to God. Sometimes the prayers that get the most attention are the shortest ones because they are heartfelt. The psalmist made a simple statement of praise to God, letting the people know they needed to praise God and the reason for it – because of his merciful kindness and his truth endures forever. Jesus prayed for each of us before he went to the cross, and as he did so, he asked God, his Father, to sanctify us by his truth, that truth is the Word of God. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (KJV) Peter also told us God’s truth stands forever. 1 Peter 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away: 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. Therefore we too need to praise God because his truth is eternal. It never fades away. It is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for your Word, which is truth and never fades away. Help me praise you for your loving kindness and mercy to me, and your eternal truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
