Suddendeath poetry Challenge: Go!

July 16, 2016 6:50am CST
Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Go! No, not Pokemon Go, but Go anyways! Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are go, row, bow, low, so. My entry is below: ------------------------------------------------------- Sew or so, the English language is often rather odd. The meanings of a same sounding word can be rather broad. Go look it up and you will see what I mean, Words can have two meanings like scene and seen! Row can mean a fight, or it can be what you do in a boat, Even when I say the word wrote, do I mean rote? To, Two or too, some words are even worse! Words with three versions, yes I threw that in my verse. Bow can be a tool, or said differently an action, The oddness of English can be a distraction, As I still need to use low, which I am sticking at the end, I hope I didn’t drive you to insanity as you read this my friends.

So how low can I go? Before I row into the bow and then off I go?

Looking on the Morning Sun they go to the Sea Take their nets and row their boat in search of expectation. Glad and bow their body to collect their luck So they are happy to wade slowly to shore

I agree, the English language is full of oddities that defy all the rules of good writing and editing. And forget Word which has lots of problems with it's and lose. Wanting to give us its and loose. It's no wonder people don't know how to spell. Too many rules.

I row my boat on the river As the setting sun sinks low, Golden rays fall on waves that quiver Making the blue water aglow. I look upwards to the birds that fly The rooks to their nest they go, Dusky darkness envelopes the sky So does daylight takes her final bow.

This is really great. The oddness of English is tough but you've handled it very well
