There is no irony in here, its all but normal. You sing a lullaby because you wanted baby to asleep. You sing loud and good. Humming all the way to your heart. When you knew it, you are sleepy. And baby is all wide eyes enjoying your good voice. The baby never sleepy at all. Well I guess we all experienced this. You are already sleep and the baby is playing around you.

It happened to me several times before. My cabinet was a complete disaster. When i woke up he was gone. My then partner told me that he had to pull out the kid from the room cause i was sleeping. He figured i was too tired and fell asleep first..

I am sure you are right, I had no children, but my Mom said that I was always wide awake when she sang the lullaby.

That is very true. I've learned that when I'm doing it for my kids. I've found that rocking with them in a rocking chair also makes me sleepy.
