I love my friends, I can rely on my friends most of the times, my real friends never let me down. A lot of research has been done looking into the benefits of friendship, and the research has found exactly what you might expect. It turns out that the better quality relationships you have; the more likely you are to be happy. Therefore it’s good for your happiness to be a great friend to someone and to have a group of good friends supporting you. But it can be hard to pinpoint exactly what makes a good friend or who.

@Atlshrugged Friends will come and go in your life, but more important than how long a friendship lasts, is that a good friend who will love you for who you are. The way you can tell the sign of a good friend is by looking at the actions they take – big and small – that show they care. Will your friends help you to do bad things, and will your friends support you to ruing your life?

@Atlshrugged I agree, most the people I come in contact with are opportunist, they only want friends with benefits and when I say benefits I mean one-sided, so if we can choose our friends, not for what they have or what we can get from them but because they have a true heat to be a real friend.

@Atlshrugged And not all parents are the give and take types, it might sounds bad but the truth is hard to digest, some just take, from the day that child was that was the only giving.

@JAMTECH That's true. Such friendships cannot last for long..Give and take is the secret of every relationship except that of parents and child in the world.

I think it's really lucky if we have found closed friends in our life that we can always rely on. I used to think I have several good friends when I was in school, but it seems like when we came out to work, things changed and our mindsets changed as well. I guess the only very closed friend that I have in high school is my husband now.

@kaka135 And that's beauty having someone in your life coming from so far. The older we gets the more we realize that not all of whom we went to school with and called friends were really our friends, and so we found new friends on our journey in life.

@JAMTECH Agree to some extent beacuse I believe that older we get, we will also realize that some people were true friends but we cannot maintain contacts with them due to pace of life and hence in olden days, we will feel that not havign too many friends is the regret..I am afraid of time when we have thousands of friends on facebook and social media but none of them going to visit us on our deathbed...Such is the hollowness..

@Atlshrugged I agree in some areas. But it looks like we're going into another discussion. When you talk about social media, we gone into cyberspace, and so we call it cyber friendship, these people we can live a 100 life time and never meet them. So the ones am really focusing on are those we've met. I understand your point though

It is great that you have good friends. You are very lucky. Because most people in the world are only selfish.

@shamish As we all have experience that friends come and go, but for me most of the times when they're around they've been good and vise-versa, so I don't thinks it's luck, but more of a blessing
