A Quiet Day on Lake MyLot

Eugene, Oregon
July 23, 2016 11:49am CST
The water barely makes a sound as it laps at the dock; along the shore, a few walkers and a dog seem to be moving in slow motion. It is a sunny day, heading toward a heated afternoon, and folks just seem to be off to a slow start. But it is Saturday. There are grocery lists to make and lawns to mow before it gets too hot. The tomatoes and green beans need water, and some people, like me, even have to work. Some parts of the lake are quiet and dark; people are sleeping, but the lake will get a little busier later. Some will sail quietly along; a few will be making a wake with ski boats. Swimmers will cool off in the water near the shore. Some will gather later at the Keyboard Tavern for a cold beverage and talk of the weather, old rock tunes and prospects for their favorite sports teams. Wise people will avoid talking politics. The sun will set, hoping for nice view here and it will all begin again tomorrow. Lake MyLot people will visit and say hello. Have a great day on the lake!

Lovely analogy James. I've been away from the lake all day, but am dipping my toes in the water now.

I love describing this place as "Lake MyLot" and that we all gather at the "Keyboard Tavern." Charming description.

All that, except the the gathering at the tavern, reminds me of when I was a kid and we went to the lake fairly often.

That's a lovely analogy. I guess I was having coffee with friends in a nearby cafe and planning a small trip north to see the wildflowers.

A very enjoyable and relaxing post. There is nothing as soothing and tranquil as being by the water.
