What about those mismatched socks, MyLotters?

I have a place I put them in the side of my sock drawer. Guess what? There get to be more of them! We all know the joke about the sock-eating washers and driers, but what do you with the darn things? This morning I mowed my lawn. I wear shoes and socks when I mow to protect my feet. So, I put on two mismatched socks and wore them. Heck, they were both some shade of dark blue and I was not leaving the yard, so why not? In fact, it they are only a little off and the same texture, I may wear them anywhere from now on. Good socks are expensive, if you can find them these days, so I am not wasting perfectly good socks any more. Tell me, what do you do with your mismatched socks?

luckily all our socks're the same brand/color so's when one gets a hole, the other's saved to go with the next'un that suffers such a fate. 'course, those holey socks get used'n critter beds 'n other 'projects' 'round the place.

I buy many pairs of identical socks. No mismatched socks. Simple.

@JamesHxstatic It may sound weird but you may have come up with the answer to any future worldwide sock shortage. If we keep a number of breeding pairs we'll be in a great position to corner the market when 'peak sock' has been reached!

Some of mine have lasted for quite a while and have slight color differences, probably no noticeable unless you are trying to mate them. (That sounds weird).

The only way I seem to end up with mismatched socks is if one of the pair get a hole in them and I throw it away. Many of my socks I buy are several pair that look alike so if I get a hole in one then I can set the one without the whole to the side and match it up with another loose one. But I have occasionally mismatch sock and it doesn't bother me at all to wear them around the house. If I'm going someplace where I will be on my feet, like grocery shopping, I figure my pant legs come all the way to my shoes so no one is going to see my socks anyway.

Yes, that's the ticket, wear them when no one will know the difference.

I can't believe when I wash my clothes and find one sock missing and cannot find it. That happened to me and not sure if ever found it.

I let my children wear them to bed when it's very cold, they say that it prevents you from getting sick or getting a fever, there is some logic to it cause keeping the feet and hands warm, warms the whole body.

We realize many people wear socks that do not match on purpose! It is fun-why not? Who really would notice if you have on long pants?

You could not believe it, but my washer and dryer never ate a single sock. As you say good socks are expensive.

You must be very organized, @LadyDuck, not to have any stray socks around.

I tend to buy socks in bundles of the same colour, so they don't get mismatched.

My uncle doesn't match his socks like normal people do. He has a drawer for white socks and one for black or colored socks. Anyway, I do wear my mismatched socks around the house.

I have a theory that the socks that go missing turn into wire coat-hangers. I keep odd socks in a special drawer and try to match them from time to time. Some I put on my hand and use for dusting. And if I get caught out wearing odd socks I pretend I'm just eccentric. No-one can argue with that. Cute photo by the way.

well at the moment I polish my bowls with them - did you know there is a story about lost socks::THE LITTLE LOST SOCK. A simple yet poignant story of hope, the power of faith, and how true friendship can make a positive difference in the life of another.

Somehow, I don't seem to lose socks. It's just dumb luck, I think. But I'll take it.

I can't wear mismatching socks. My grandmother bought me some mismatched matching socks and I couldn't even wear those. It irritates me to have to wear them. I only wear them if I absolutely have no other options.
