Getting a new carmera

Soon Im going to be in the market for a new camera and a tripod. My webcam is nice but Im limited only as far as the usb cord on it will go plus if I go outside to take pictures or videos I have to drag my whole laptop with me. I wanting an all in one and something I can record on as well as take pictures and I don't want one that is big and bulky. I can remember my grandparents old fashioned video recorder that thing was so heavy and grandpa would always put me in charge of lugging it around and operating it. I didnt mind cause back then I was in better shape and could handle it plus for grandma I didnt dare say no that was my grandma.
