My parents came to stay last weekend and my mother turned up with a gift for us: a knitted corgi. It's not the first time she's knitted an animal. She made a ginger striped cat for my friend a couple of years back and won first prize in the local flower and produce show with another knitted cat. The corgi is about 6 inches (15 cm) long and apparently the greatest challenge was getting his head to sit in the right position. In case you're wondering, I have absolutely NO IDEA why she knitted me a corgi.

@boiboing it will if you carry it, like one of those ankle biters.

@Jessicalynnt We saw a couple last weekend walking two 12 week old pugs. Only the pug pups were tired and had to be carried home. Cute and not so dumb as they're supposed to be.

He certainly is cute and a nice gift even if you have no idea why your mom made it

How cute! She probably saw the instructions, wanted to try it and then decided to give it to you to show her work. How nice of her. What a cutie!

He's very sweet! My 95-year-young mother only knits me gloves now, but she knitted Postman Pat and cat for a craft fair a couple of years ago.

Hand crafted gifts are lovely. I remember my mom used to stitch tunics for me when I was a kid. They were unique and lovely.
