Coleus are plants with colorful foliage. They are easy to grow and care for. They are low maintenance plants and make a good color statement in your garden. There are lovely ornamental plants. Just a small cutting is enough to start another plant. In the rainy season most of the flowers in my garden are sadly battered and washed out by the non stop rains.. Coleus come in pretty handy during those times to add color to my garden. These plants are native to Asia, Australia and Africa. Their colors look even more brighter when the get a few hours of sun everyday. There are so many varieties and hybrids of coleus that everyone can find something to their liking. This picture here is of my favorite coleus. Do you have coleus in your garden? do you like them?

@crazyhorseladycx They bleach a bit in the intense sunshine but they do okay. I don't think they are edible to the grasshoppers. They are mostly problem free only sometimes you could have a white mealybug infestation.

They are beautiful.. Try to keep them in pots and shades so that rain can not wash away all of them..

@digiguru Ithink you have not got me right.. I said that the coleus brings color to my garden when the other flowers in my garden get washed out by the rain. I love the coleus for just that.

@rebelann watering when the soil is dry would do you don't need rains.. They just add a splash of color during the dull rainy season here.

@rebelann Our summer always hover around that range. They are pretty good in withstanding heat though they may require more frequent watering.
