Cicada - up close and personal

We found this perfectly preserved cicada, dead, in the back yard. We carefully preserved him and I played with the macro settings on my camera.
I like how this one turned out! I can hear the cicadas buzzing outside right now. They are a constant buzzing sound. Kind of like crickets for hot weather.
I really love his wings. The bug himself is just over an inch long.

so that's what the bugs on the front porch that are huge are. I knew what they sounded like, but not what they looked like

I think they're neat! Oddly, they are some of the smaller of the bugs around here - only a little over an inch long... the june bugs are about an inch and a half (also cool) and the ever popular three to four inch Palo Verde beetles.
