Pigeons Survival

I see very few sparrows and crows in my city. I mean seeing them is so rare that I am doubting if they are having trouble adopting to the city. It could be pollution and the mobile towers that are affecting their fertility. For some reason I think nature is something at play here. Pigeons which are very resilient in such case are surviving just fine. Not just survival but they are growing more rapidly. In some cities they are more in number than any other animal and birds combined. I don't know what makes them easy for adapting to changing human condition. Not even humans have adopted to such things that easily.

Mobile towers are the major reason for this. Due to increase in mobile towers there is increase in lots of radiations. The radiations which emits from the mobile tower effects the bird embryo.

Pigeons are rife here too - to be honest I get fed up with their constant cooing.

I find their pooing to be more annoying than their cooing. And when they walk around you, almost begging for food.. They're dogs, not birds!

Could it be that they have found a natural environement in which they can thrive without problems.

Go with the flow, I guess. Humans adapt to survive. I think it has to do with finding others of your kind to align yourself. I can't change well anymore, but I used to.

Pigeons thrive in high rises in the city. They don't need trees or greenery around. I just hate the way the poop on everything..

I never see a pigeon ever, except in a city. There must be something in their genes that attaches them to cities.

Good point. In my neighborhood I see all three: sparrows, crows and pigeons. The first two are often active during the early morning and I can hear them, pigeons wake up later instead. Pigeons have a middle size, so they don't need a lot of room when it comes to nesting, crows seem more picky and they usually use trees. Then they're bigger than sparrows, so it's easier for them to "compete" when it comes to food. Then they're also bossy, even around humans, some would also steal from your hands/dish; I mostly heard of seagulls doing that. And here seagulls can be found in cities which are like one or two hours far from the sea, because they find food in the dumps. When it comes to the offspring, I see male pigeons trying to hit on every female they meet. Crows are monogamous I heard. Sparrows are just vulnerable, I think, maybe other bigger animals hunt them too.

Fly pigeons fly, we rarely see them now. In NZ pigeons there are human friendly , that is because they are animals and birds-friendly.

Are the mobile towers affecting the birds' lives? It could be. This is the price of development; nature had to be affected so much.
