Today in Tamilnadu, India celebrating the day as Aadipperukku. This is the festival which is celebrated in the Tamil month of Aadi (4th month of the 12 Tamil months) to pay tributes for the rising level of water in Tamil Nadu rivers like Cauvery. It is a festival of Goddess Amman. People will throw flowers in the river water and will thank God through prayers for the flow of water in the river. Of course, there will be other ceremonies too. Do you have any similar local festival? Share it please.
