I asked my co-teacher how many mugs of coffee does he consume everyday and he answered proudly 18 mugs. I was so shocked, of course, that is too much.It might be bad for his health. He might be sick of diabetes. That is only my assumption for that is one cause of getting that sickness too much sugar in take. I do not know if I am right, but I am so worried for my friend Pete who is just 24. I told him of the experience of my other friend who drinks coffee several mugs a day at age 18 and 15 years after we met in the bus I was riding. He was so pale and thin.I asked him what happened to him and he related to me that he is sick of diabetes. He took no other , but 15 mugs of coffee everyday. I do not know if he is still alive this time.I met him 2 years ago. How many mugs of coffee do you drink everyday? Me, 2 mugs. Thank you mylotters for your possible assumption of my co-teacher's case. Image credit by Pixabay

@TiasOceanView coffee is good for our livers . . a cup a day is not enough to cleanse the liver. I suggest add a couple more.

Apart from anything else I don't think I would stop going for a pee all day if I drank that much.

@cacay1 Caffeine actually has some anti-inflammatory properties and is very good at helping to prevent muscle stiffness after exercising. It also helps to metabolise fat while exercising. I think 3 to 4 cups per day is probably beneficial but 18 is just insane!! How does your co-worker sleep?

I usually don't drink coffee. I only drink it during cold December mornings or when it is raining. Does he add sugar in every cup of coffee? Hmmmm he is at risk.

That's too much! Coffeeholic! He could really have diabetes due to too much sugar consumption. Mine is three mugs a day, sometimes two. And drink a lot of water after each coffee mug.

I think excessive consumption of coffee makes one feel warm and tendency for eating food become lesser, lead to gastric problem, sugar added coffee cause diabetes, may cause liver problem due to low eating tendency.

Oh! 18 mugs of coffee a day? Oh my "G". That's too much. I think he really need to stop or else..hmmm.. I can't immagine. Hopefully he will then know what might be the result if he doesn't reduce drinking in it. I only drink 1 cup of coffee daily.

@cacay1 Yes, that was really terrible. Good thing he doesn't have problem in sleeping. People with too much intake of drinks with caffeine will definitely can't sleep well.

I can't even get 1 cup completely per day. 18 cups is like inviting blood pressure and other lever issues.

I don't drink coffee, but I drink 3/4 large cups of tea a day. 18 cups of coffee seems ridiculous.

I only sip once or twice of coffee but not daily when my husband drinks. I'm very positive that your co worker is already a diabetic because that is what my youngest son did when he was still 21 years old, he used to make a coffee shake putting 3 sachets of instant coffee and did it 3x a day, so now he regrets what he had done before.

Me none at all two or three cups of not very strong Tea and that is it. He might have brought the dosage of Coffee down as that would be too much for anyone in the long run.

I don't drink coffee but slurp up diet cola all day, every day. Scolding someone for their addiction is useless. They know it is not good for them but they don't care. I try to cut down on mine but it is a losing battle.

I have one or two large cups a day or less. I used to be an 8 to 16 cup a day drinker. but those cups as they are measured in the coffee pot are not that big. I have cut back a lot from the last 5 years or so. As for your friend, He might want to try mixing half decaf to half full caf and cut back on sugar or at least lower the concentration when brewing. Also, make sure he has his blood sugar checked. I found that cutting back on sugar was not too hard. I don't know if there is such a place called coffee addicts anonymous. But there is this site:

I'm a coffee drinker but I can afford to drink only two mugs. I get palpitations when I have more than two. Too much of something is not good as well.
