I don't know if this one even flies, to be honest. It didn't fly away when it saw me. It ran into the grass instead.

That one didn't seem to care I was there. Probably figured I wasn't going to walk out into the water after it.

I've seen the different pix of this bird that you posted & still can't figure out what it is...but like I said before, I do like it...& yes, it was weird that it didn't fly away but instead just ran into the grass...

I have seen this kind of bird here, not exact though. And as its wings are too little I don't think it can fly either. Even bird I saw here wasn't flying. Instead of flying it was exactly doing as you said, running.
