Today at 5 I took my kids to a town picnic event. It would have been more fun if my kids were a little younger but they did have a good time anyway.
The liked mini golf and the games such as Tip-a-troll, pick a pop, and bean bag toss. They got a piece of candy for each game no matter if they won or lost.
My kids didn't want to do the slip 'n slide, life size jenga, or bounce houses.
The thing my daughter was most excited about was getting henna done on her hand.
Everything was free except the food which was low cost at $1 each.. Ziti, pizza, nachos, soda, hotdogs etc.
There was more at the event but that's enough details to bore you with.
After we were done we went to an ice cream place about 10 miles down the road. This one had hard ice cream, soft ice cream in 24 flavors, slushies, wine ice cream, bubble tea and more. It was pretty neat! It is the 15th ice cream shop my children and I have visited this summer!
I just finished reading Allegiant and am going to get ready for bed I'm tired out!

i wish more communities 'd such events, perhaps folks're tryin' to resurrect such? i'm sure they need some more 'big young'un' activities, but what a blessin' anyhow.
15 d'ffrent ice cream shops?? hmm, wonder how many there're 'round these parts? pleasant slumber :)

@shaggin my son isn't a big soda drinker. He got a taste of soda at the age of 9 and he isn't a fan of it until now but he does drink it once in awhile.

@shaggin Darn! They would! Now I am older and don't enjoy it, but I like seeing the kids enjoy it. :)

Sounds like a fun afternoon, and better when it is so cheap.

Yes low priced fun is awesome. I look for events like this all the time. My kids are getting a little old for most things though :( They do not enjoy the things like they used to when they were little.

My bed is so comfortable but my daughter always sleeps in my bed and makes loud noises and bumps into me.

My kids are 12 & 8. A bit old for most of the family friendly events anymore :(

Hahah well I didn't dream about sugar sweets but after eating that Strawberry cheesecake ice cream I am really craving to try the other flavors.

Thank you I am very tired today after going to bed late and getting up early for the yard sale.
