Didn't Overeat all Day, but Now I'm Getting Hungry

The procedure I had this morning went well. I don't have to return for another one for ten more years and then that will probably be my last since they discontinue these when people reach eighty. Most people go out to a fancy place to eat afterward since they hadn't eaten in a day and a half or so, but with our limited budget, we didn't have that option. So instead, we got something at Burger King. Both my husband and I love their onion rings. So, we had those and a sandwich each. I wasn't starving like I expected to be, but I made sure to continue drinking liquids since it's still hot outside. I visited with my mom again after the supper hour even though I didn't take the time to eat then. After I returned, I went with my daughter to pick up some food for her and an external drive for her to put her pictures and music on. Then, when we returned home again I made a breakfast tv dinner and after eating that decided to also eat a bowl of cereal as I was still hungry, or so I thought. It's ten o'clock pm, I tend to eat later than this since I'm usually up later still, but since I didn't work these past few days we're getting an early start in the morning, so I ended up stopping after a few bites of cereal and realizing I was fuller than I thought.

From your description I can only think you had the nasty procedure done. The one I had when I was in the hospital a year ago and they found I have a problem. My brother also had the procedure and is clean and doesn't need to do a repeat for 10 years. As for my repeating - absolutely no way in H will I go through that again not for any reason. They already found my problem and I'll be living with it for the rest of my life. I'm glad your procedure went well. It's amazing how un hungry you are after going without food for so long.

I don't remember whether you shared what was found, Valerie. If it's not cancerous, then possibly it would be okay for you not to repeat it as recommended, but depending on what the found it may be in your best interests to do as suggested. Maybe, if the procedure was that horrific, you could find someone else that does it. While I'm glad I don't have any problems nor do I need another one for ten years, I didn't find it as bad as I anticipated. Did you awaken during the procedure? If so, I can see where that would be disconcerting. One of the nurses I talked to before hand told me that she has to have them every year and she's woken up in the middle before. Now when she begins waking up, she'll voice it out loud and if they are still doing the procedure, they'll give her more sedation which puts her back out again.

@just4him Different doctors have people drink different concoctions for whatever reason. The one that I did was tasteless and mainly grainy, but overall not all that bad. It was only grainy when I was toward the final few swallows because I didn't take time to stir it up again first. I mixed mine with gatorade the lemonade flavor and one of the blue ones. I thought for sure I'd abhor those but they weren't as bad as I expected. I took a store brand miralax which was mixed in 64 oz of the Gatorade. I mixed half of the miralax in one bottle and shook it up and then put it into a cup with ice cubes.

@MarshaMusselman It wasn't the procedure itself, it was the stuff I had to drink. It was the nastiest tasting stuff I've ever had to drink and almost threw up on it several times as I gagged on it. I won't drink that again, ever.

@MarshaMusselman 'tis true 's most folks get such done by a general surgeon 'n they don't use pediatric equipment most oft. best to use a gastroenterologist, they're way more knowledgable. the bad thingy 'bout many cancers 'f the digestive system 's that by the time symptoms occur, 'tis usually too late to be treated successfully :(

Maybe the person that told me eighty was the age were they stopped doesn't know for sure. A lot could also depend on whether each individual has other warning signs or not. As a person ages they worry about puncturing vessels that may not heal easily or that type of thing.

Glad that your procedure went well. So you thought you would be terribly hungry and you were really not.. I guess most of the hunger pangs are in the head.

@MarshaMusselman Also that I agree. However, some people eat when they need to drink water. My son is one of those who feel hungry just because its time to eat LOL

It may depend on how much each person eats normally too. I eat fairly light throughout the day.

I'm glad your procedure went well - do you have to wait for results, or is that it?

You hear the results once you awaken in a recovery room. They have your ride waiting for you there in case you're too sleepy to remember what was said. If there were possible problems I'd probably have to return within a few years rather than the ten.
