Another bit of fallout from the Road 10 fire. Somebody posted the news that a pig was seen wandering a blackened field. Next thing I spotted was a photo posted by the local animal shelter. Who is missing a boar? He is hot and has overgrown teeth but other wise in good shape. We have him so call us please. (Quite the photo of a black and white Mr. Pig lying on his side, long tooth snaggling out.)

@sallypup - Ms Lenore - That was the boar that escaped from the barbecue place close by Road 10 on the day of the fire. He sensed the fire and figured that it was to be his turn to be prepared for some "pulled pork" sandwiches. It was not until he got loose and into the fields over by #10 that he realized his own freedom - and then it was that the smoke, the flames, and the cooked worms and all overcame him - and he was picked up by those animal shelter folks. Depending on how you feel about piggies and piggy-cookers, you might think to give the barbecue place a phone call and tell them where to go to pick up their uncooked boar.

@sallypup - Ms Lenore - Ah, yes. The "shaggy dog stories." It was in an old, run-down barbershop over in Memphis, Tennessee, in which I first experienced a shaggy dog story. The barber, Edward Samuel Reppensworth by name, kept a bald dog over in one corner of his shop. He explained to me that his hound was used to test the sharpness of his hair-cutting tools in that the dog could regrow its shaggy hair almost overnight. Thus, said Edward Samuel, his one shaggiy doggie was a lot cheaper to feed than restocking hairy dogs by the dozen.

@Ceerios You ever sold anything to Garrison Keilor? I'm sure I've heard your patter on Prairie Home Companion.

Glad to hear he made it. A co-worker at the store is married to a firefighter who was called up to a fire north of you. He is on his way.
