Life has so many mysterious paths and corners and shadows.
You know that I am not related by blood to the lady I was named after. You also know that the farm that I grew up on was hers really and not my family. We were renters only and yet we were more than that.
A year or so ago I was given a lead on a member of her family. We cyber talked and that was that though from time to time I find his posts on FB. Tonight I found another one. This time it was a photo of three ladies at a country club. One looked so much like my namesake. I mentioned that.
Her niece answered back. Elderly as you can imagine so I must not be slow. She wants to e-mail me. It feels like I've gained a toe hold on a shadowed bit of family. A bit of the Farm come back to me.

Always nice to make new connections like that. Maybe you'll find out a little more of their family history. So the lady you rented from was more family than friend to you, as far as how your family thought of her? I had a couple "aunts" like that. One was actually my mother's cousin, and another was Mama's best friend for years and years. I never had any blood relative aunts.

@CinnamonGri The lady was a Grandma and a rescuer to all of us many times. She did her best and then some to provide guidance and stability.

@Jessicalynnt Its spooky cause some of the people I am trying to speak with have another take on what I know as that time when I was a kid and a little before. The lady I contacted yesterday said that she had been on the farm at one time. Maybe before I was born?
