Foot and a half high waves? Eh, not so bad

Once again I was out in the boat, the water was a bit choppy, but it wasn't that bad...a foot and a half high waves isn't that bad, right? I am about 80 feet from shore, and I start to figure out oh if the boat is pointed this way in the waves it's not so bad. Or oh if I adjust the weight this way, it's not so bad. Then I begin to get this feeling, like I'm starting to get it, I'm starting to understand the boat and the water and I'm getting almost giddy like YES I am nailing it! And then oddly, I start to get a little worried. At what? It's not the fact that the water is rough. It's that I'm actually now enjoying the ride-and that enjoyment is what could be dangerous. Because it could lead to being careless in a situation where carelessness could be very bad for my health. After that I decided to row back to shore for a little break...because even with a life jacket on, well, if the boat had blown over, I still would not really want to risk losing my car keys.

I would have left my keys on the shore or some where they won't get lost.

I'm always afraid someone will take them, or that an overly curious raccoon will take them (mmmm it sounds odd...but, they do steal;/).
