Suicide: An unforgivable sin or forgivable sin?

I was taught that a self-inflicted death blow was unforgivable, until I learned better. There are so many situations and circumstances that could cause a person to think about suicide or commit suicide and God truly takes this into consideration.

At least in the Mormon church, it's not a deadly sin. Mental illness was truly considered an illness, and it killed you. So it was no more murder than a physical disease. Even if you consider it a deadly sin, what good does it do to tell the survivors? They're already grieving the loss of a loved one, there's no point in making it worse.
