Day 151 Psalm 130 Psalm 130:1 < Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. 2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. 3 If thou, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou may be feared. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. 6 My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. 7 Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. 8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities. Where do you turn when you have exhausted all your resources? Who can you trust to come to your aid without question? The psalmist knew where to turn when everything was going wrong. When he felt the depths of despair wash over him, he cried to the LORD who always heard his prayers. He knew that no matter what he did, God would forgive him and show him mercy. His prayer wasn’t just for himself, but for Israel to so they would turn back to God and know God’s redemptive power in their lives. As Christians, we know the redemptive power of God’s love. We know his forgiveness and mercy. We know Jesus hears all our prayers and puts our tears in his bottle. Our hope is firmly founded on God’s promises and his Word which never fails. Do you know God’s redemptive mercy for your life? Have you accepted Jesus, God’s Son, as Savior and Lord? If not, you can know him today. You can know his redemptive power and forgiveness, his love and mercy, and know the hope that brings peace to your life. Let’s pray: Father, I give you praise for your redemptive power that brings me hope when I stumble and fall. Help me turn to you first when life comes down on me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
