Carelessness came to our rescue

When we returned from an outing we realised we were locked out. The two doors, one leading to the kitchen and the other to the main entrance were both locked. The key that we keep hidden near the window was not to be seen. We panicked. We had guests with us and the world for me turned upside down. I saw a ray of hope. I called one of the handyguys and requested him to use a ladder and go to the terrace. But why? There was a question in unison by all present. Because I said that the door leading to the terrace was open - a careless thing to do but it helped us to get in. Did any of your blunders came to your rescue too?
