Nothing else like it...

Different things, affect different people, in different ways. For me... It's music. No matter what kind of "funk" I find myself in...music becomes the greatest healer for me. It can get me out of a bad mood. It can soothe my aching heart. It can bring peace in the midst of chaos. It can make me laugh, cry, and most definitely...make me dance. It can bring back some of the most fondest memories, when I feel like there is nothing left to hang on to... Even to this day...it takes me to a world where pain does not exist. I can just close my eyes, and start singing. Imagining myself on stage, singing to the world. Not to be famous. But to speak message. A message of unity. A message of hope. A message of love. A message of happiness. A message of encouragement. A message of laughter. A message of tears. Music can evoke every emotion that mankind is able to feel. It was no accident that God created music. With music, I can live in a world where hate does not exist. I can live in a world where every family member gets along, and supports each other, without judgment, and criticism. Where friends don't write you off, over the pettiest of things. It can put me to sleep in a matter of minutes, sometimes seconds. It works better than a sleeping pill. And it does not matter what kind. I can even sleep through the most heaviest rock-n-roll song. It is amazing how "age" has liberated me over the years. When I was young, my taste in music was quite limited. It was basically: country (which I grew up on), soft pop, contemporary christian, and christian worship, were about the only genres that I enjoyed. Unless it was Elvis Presley. It did not matter what he sang. I liked it all! I can remember as far back as 5 years old, how this man affected me. Reaching far deep within my soul, to bring out emotions I never knew I had inside of me. Now... I have noticed that the older I get, I have come to love all genres of music. Country, rock, rap, hip-hop, hillbilly rock, reggae, mexican, pop, doo wop, opera, classical, ballads, instrumental, musicals, jazz, rhythm and blues, folk, funk, disco, funny, cheezy, holiday, inspirational, gospel, hymns, christian contemporary, christian rock, christian worship, and even a little christian heavy metal. Have I left anything out??? LOL The list could go on and on, I guess... I can listen to music for hours. I enjoy it more than any other type of entertainment; including television, and/or going to see a movie. When I listen to music, I am not alone. I am in a world where fear, and failure does not exist. Where dreams come true. It creates a heaven for me, right down here on this earth. Yes... Music has always been the most saving grace (except Jesus) God has ever given me, when nothing else worked.
