Steamer Dixie (Labor Day Hurricane 1935)

This is another painting that my dad did... Built by the Federal Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company at Kearney, New Jersey...the Dixie was unique in that she was the first American built ship designed to utilize high-pressure steam. The ship measured 445 feet in length, 60 feet at the beam, and displaced 4665 gross tons.

I could feel the string waves hittting the ship just by looking at the painting.
