People come into our lives, they stay a while, time passes, they move on. Did they make a difference? Have you made a difference? Parting is, such sweet, sorrow...
Taken from the Red, Hot & Blue project is Annie Lennox's version of Cole Porter's Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye. The video was originally scheduled to have been ...

A friend used to say that - people come into your life for a reason and when they are no longer needed they go away. Yes, the make a difference. The friend who told me that was a necessary person for me years and years ago - I've grown and now we live too far away and the friendship has ended

I do not know if I made a difference for someone, but there are few people that surely made a difference for me.

If people come into our lives and it doesn't make any difference to us then I think that is a sad thing. I have met people over the years who have changed my attitudes, loved and encouraged me. Some of them I will never meet again but I have remembered their words of wisdom for decades now.

So true. Life is a continuum, and the experiences we share as we pass through it are what make the difference.

Yes, that is true. I have had people like that in my life in the past who are not in my life today.

As the person who just done the "moving on", I can say he made a great difference in my life, and I will always be grateful.

That is probably the most comfort each can take, to be grateful for kindnesses given as well as taken.

@pgntwo - Friend PGN - My friends always think of me in ways that my foes might never consider. (To the wise goes the whiskey and to the rest, the empty containers.)

I think I've made a difference to the few core people in my life, and vice versa, but otherwise - no.

That is just the thing, pgn.... We can't know if we honestly made a difference in someone's life until either they tell us we have (and enough time has passed so we know it is true) or we can see the differences our passing has made for ourselves. (Usually, again, time must pass before we are able to tell if we've made an appreciable difference to them/their lives.) I like to think I make some sort of difference in the lives of the people I meet and especially the lives of the people I like. (I do know it probably doesn't happen, but I can still hope, right?)

It's that "time passes" thing again, isn't it? And it's different every time, each unique in its own way. Like you say: Hope, that's the key!

quite a lot of the people who have come and gone in my life ... It used to give me a problem... the coming and going... but I have grown to accept this as a fact of life..., They have made a difference... mostly on the positive side... and because of them.. I now feel I make a difference in the lives of people I meet... and make friends with... for however long....

You have to ask the people I've met if I've made a difference. I can't answer that myself, of course.

Perhaps that is where we're going wrong - moving on is something many are loath to do, should we be rationing the time we spend with any particular person?

I know for a fact that I have made a difference in at least one person's life. Every one else I meet? Who knows. It's more often the tiny things which matter more than the big things.

Just like people in Mylot,Some people read your post, give you a like, respond to what you have written, even report you. They all leave footprints on your post, they give you some tips, they share their own experiences you described in your post, they show their points of view to your post which let you see things from a different perspective, they may just give you a welcome message. They do make a difference to you.

Everybody you meet gets an impression from you and visa versa, sometimes it's life changing sometimes it's just a touch. I didn't like this song but I remember one that she helped make famous, she sure can belt out a song when she wants to.

Sometimes we take others for granted, that's when it is probably a good time to take stock... Yes, there are many versions of that song, including one by Rod Stewart... but Annie Lennox can, as you say, "belt out a song"!

If some1 is meant to stay in ur life,he/she will stay & if they r meant to part, they will,no one can do anything about it,believe it or not, that is exactly one of the golden rules of the journey called "life".
