House to Myself

I have the house to myself for a couple of hours. My husband and I pretty much go about our own day anyway so I am not sure why having the house to myself seems like a treat. There are some things that are just easier to do when I am home alone. I can wash the floors and no one will walk on them while they are wet. I can empty out a cupboard or a closet and sort through without anyone complaining about the mess. I can take a long soak in the tub and read a magazine. I can myLot without anyone asking, "What are you doing on there?" Now to choose what to do for the next couple of hours. I think the floors need me the most! Is it a treat to get the house to yourself?

Having the house to myself is a rare occurrence so I usually try to relax and little, maybe listen to some music louder than when other people are home or catch up on some tv shows that no one else likes to watch. I try not to waste that precious time by cleaning

It used to be but it doesn't matter so much anymore. Rarely am I here much to enjoy being home alone anyway. It only happens when it rains and that will happen more now that fall is closer but whether I'm home alone or not won't change my plans too much.

@paigea I can't wash the floors when he's home, nor can I make many calls for our business as he tends to nap in the living room when I want to begin those. But, otherwise, I can tackle other things since he mostly hangs out at his computer in the extra bedroom.

@MarshaMusselman washing the floors while he is out is definitely easier. And as for the rest, he is just up and down, in and out. lol sometimes he is being productive but other time he is just puttering around. I do the same but I don't bother myself. lol

Well not much any more for me. Sometimes it is but lately I have the house to myself a lot. I understand the need and feeling of freedom though for sure.

I get it to myself a lot - not that he's far - usually just out in the yard working or in the hammock napping!

Yes, I always have loved it - those few hours of peace and like you said- no one noticing what you're doing. I suppose i wouldn't like it if it was for always--- but then again, maybe I would---ha!

I suppose sometimes it is for situations like you write. Most the time I prefer to have my children around though! I am lonely without them.

I used to look forward to a little peace when my children were young, but I never seemed to put that time to good use and I would start to miss them pretty quickly.

For me it is. It's even nice when the kids are at daycare and it's just my husband and I. Although it is to be home by myself. I love my family, but it's nice to get the house to myself.

I like being alone. I had a nice week alone when my girlfriend went to visit with her sister. I was able to get a lot more done than if she was around. Nothing against her mind you. But we all need alone time.

@paigea We all do. And I had some awesome alone time. My girlfriend spent a week with her sister and I had the entire place to myself. Wow. It felt great. But I did miss her.

@inertia4 I start to miss my husband when he is gone for several hours. He has rarely gone away overnight. I go away a lot more and so he gets the house to himself!

It certainly was when I lived with my family! My sister recently got the house to herself overnight. She couldn't believe how much sleep she got. With no husband or daughter there was no one to bug her into wakefulness.
