The Gift of Life...

I wrote this poem years ago, and even once had it published. It received rave reviews at one time. Many said that it reminded them of the poem: Footprints... I would like to share it with you. I hope you enjoy... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I was walking... I met a man... Who had two scars... One on each hand... As I walked on and as I walked by... I noticed a hole that was there in His side... I stopped... I turned... And I walked toward Him... And there around His head... Were more scars on His skin... I said...What happened to you? Have you been in a fight? He said...No my child this is not right... As I began to inquire more of Him... He began to tell me that it was a result of sin... Sin I said? I don’t understand? Again...He showed me the scars on his hands... As I looked on... He began to explain... That sin was the cause of His death and His pain... Did you sin I asked? Are you to blame? Why did you have to die? What did you gain? He answered...I did not sin and I am not to blame… But...I did it for you... To keep you from shame... For me? You did it for me? Yes my child...For I wanted you to see... That I have loved you... And that I have cared... And you’re life in me... I wanted to share... But why? What have I done? To receive your life... That we might be one? Oh...Nothing He said... Nothing at all... For it’s by grace that I have given... And I have given it to all... All? You’ve given it to all? Yes He said... The both great and the small! Wow!!! How could I have not known... The love that you shared by dying alone? That’s okay He said... You were not informed... But now you know... Now you’ve been warned... So please... Go tell my people... Tell them no lie... That it was for this cause... That I had to die... Written By: Teresa Trotter

@YesWay - Don't compare yourself to me. You are your own unique self. And that in itself will create a great poem.

@teresatrotter you've inspired me to try one. But it won't be anywhere near as good as yours.

@pgntwo Thank you for suggesting this, it's far superior to the last one you suggested to me.

@jaboUK Glad you like it, I think it has verve and style - yes, unlike my last suggestion, thankfully.

Amazing poem. Really wonderful. I am not a religious person but I can relate to this as I am sure anyone could.
