Sleeping away from home

I've always envied those people who can close their eyes and instantly fall asleep no matter where they are as l find it really hard to sleep unless l'm in my own bed. Are you the kind of person who can sleep anywhere or are you like me tossing and turning if you're somewhere strange?

I once fell asleep standing up leaning against the wall. I commonly do physical labor though and at times my exhaustion is quite high.

Yeah, I've slept standing up before, too. It's a little freaky to wake up and realize you've been sleeping for the last 25 minutes standing up. It's a good thing the body knows how to stay standing. It helps to have a wall behind your back but that is not necessary.

I can sleep pretty much anywhere as long as it's not a bed that hurts my back. And of course, if I'm tired enough in the first place.

I would love to be like you but it has nothing to do with comfort. I can be really tired but I just can't drop off in a strange bed,

No, that's not me. I need to be home to fall asleep correctly. I always feel strange being somewhere else. That's why I never sleep over anyones house. Hotels are okay, but they too get me cranky.

@sprite1950 Right. And it takes me a few days to get back to normal when I get home. It is a strange thing. But it is what it is.

I don't like sleepovers. I prefer sleeping on my own bed.

I think it is just normal for most of people. Personally, I am the kind who can sleep anywhere, especially when I am so exhausted that I cant open my eyes, I will fall asleep quickly.

I stay awake at night most of the time so I don't find it hard to sleep anywhere when Im sleepy, what I am not comfortable with is when I'm in other peoples bathroom and toiletI feel awkward even on vacation houses, hotels, movie house etc..even campings

I get that too although not if I know the people well. I would rather use my own toilet than anywhere else.

I find it easier to sleep away. I spend most of my time on my bed, and it's scientifically proven that if you stay awake on your bed during the day, you're likely to stay awake during the night too. If I'm away from home it also means I've been busy all day doing exciting things, so I'll be tired enough to fall asleep in a few minutes. I can't close my eyes and sleep instantly either. Unless I literally fall asleep, but it's like fainting for me, not something I plan to do. It happens when I haven't been sleeping for more than a day (+24 hours).

Ooh I would love to be like that. To be able to sleep somewhere strange and feel ok the next day would be wonderful.

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who can sleep anywhere, anytime. I can sleep on planes, trains, on benches, chairs, couches, in crowded terminals, in classrooms, and even standing up--although I don't recommend sleeping standing up or while driving a car. I could be sitting in a chair and put my elbow on the arm rest and rest my head on my hand and be asleep within 60 seconds. It's that easy. Insomniacs don't like me.
